Test of the ‘LU-Alert’ public warning and information system (5 October 2026)
As part of the National Resilience Days from 5 to 10 October, the government will continue to implement its strategy for testing the ‘LU-Alert’ public warning and information system on Monday 5 October 2026. In addition to the monthly test of the siren network, an audible alert (via ‘Cell Broadcast’, CB) will be tested at around 11.00 am on the mobile phones of people present on Luxembourg territory.
As this is a test alert, there is no need to react or take any specific action.
“This test lasts a few seconds and can save lives in the event of a real emergency.”
All mobile devices connected to a Luxembourg mobile network mast at the time the test message is transmitted via cell broadcast (CB) will be affected.
This audible alert is very loud and therefore highly intrusive. Furthermore, the alerts are sent as priority notifications that appear on a mobile device’s screen even if it is in silent mode or locked, and are accompanied by a sound and a vibration. After a few seconds, the audible signal stops. Public authorities use this alert channel when an event is likely to pose a significant or imminent danger to the public and immediate action is required on their part.
As with previous tests carried out by other public authorities, on this occasion it is the High Commission for National Protection (HCPN) that will send a test message via the mobile network. This message will be sent simultaneously via other alert channels (the ‘LU-Alert’ mobile app, the websitewww.lu-alert.lu, and the website data.public.lu).
Further information and a list of frequently asked questions are also available on the website www.lu-alert.lu.
