Léon Gloden met with representatives from the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK)
On International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, whose theme this year was ‘Fund Resilience, Not Disasters’, Minister of Home Affairs Léon Gloden met with representatives from the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and Germany's Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK). This exchange took place during the meeting of the interministerial committee of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, ahead of the presentation of the National Resilience Strategy.
The meeting highlighted a common goal: reducing risks to reduce the negative consequences of disasters. The discussions offered valuable insights for the future development of measures to implement the National Resilience Strategy, particularly in terms of risk management and strengthening civil security resilience.
The investments needed to build resilience are four times less than the costs of reconstruction after a disaster. With this in mind, let's fund resilience, not disasters.
